As a teacher I celebrate uniqueness and I nurture those who are original and follow their own path instead of following others.

 

It is because of this that when I teach I sprinkel a blend of technical skill instruction, creative empowerment, and emotional encouragement to guide students to discover their unique voices.

 

In teaching art: 

• Fostering Self-Expression is a goal I strive for. By helping students translate inner thoughts, emotions, and cultural perspectives into visible, tangible forms.

• Building Technical Competenceis is valued in the art world. This is why teaching the elements and principles of design alongside safe, effective respect for handling of all types of media like paint, clay, and other art tools is stressed.

• Encouraging Creative Risk Taking and cultivating a safe space where mistakes are viewed as learning steps rather than failures is number one in all my classes.

 

Methods in The Lakemoore Arts Studio are:

• Demonstrating and Guiding: Showing physical techniques while allowing students room to interpret instructions in their own style.

• Managing a Dynamic Studio: Organizing diverse supplies, setting up cooperative routines, and running an open, hands-on workspace.

• Validating Effort: Encouraging students to share their work so that others my grow. Finding places to show their work is part of the validtion process. Art compitions, galleries, and yes even social media are ways to support art development.
